Well, good afternoon, everyone.
My name is Chris Berger and yes, it’s time for a Berger Point.
You know, it’s getting that time of year, early March, and people are starting to think about buying a home.
Well, what do you have to do to be prepared?
Well, the number one thing is that as a buyer, you have to get pre-qualified.
And how do I get pre-qualified for a mortgage?
Well, you can go to a bank and if you have a good relationship with a bank, you can go in and speak to the mortgage lending department and get a rate.
However, if you need a wider option of mortgages selection, what you can do is contact a mortgage broker.
And at this point, the bank or a mortgage broker will pre-qualify you.
And to be pre-qualified, it’s really a simple procedure.
You’re just telling them your income.
You give them your Social Security number and they run your credit and you’re good to go.
And keep that in mind because as a buyer, you need that pre-qualification to go look at a home with a real estate agent.
And in addition to that, the seller will many times ask the agents, are they pre-qualified or are they qualified?
So you got to do that.
It’s a big step.
And of course, if you have cash you still need a qualification letter stating that you have cash to cover the amount of the home that you want to purchase.
All this will make the buying process much easier for you in the long run because at this point, when you’re ready to make an offer, and you make the offer, that pre-qualified letter states that you’re ready to go to the next step in the mortgage process.
So keep that in mind. Do your due diligence.
Get pre-qualified. Come see me.
We can buy a house.
All right, great.
Wearing my Brian Wilson hat because actually it’s always been one of my favorites.
And in the spring, I’m going to see Al Jardine, who was one of the original Beach Boys and he’s going to play a real tribute to Brian Wilson.
That’s my point.
Have a great night.
